Blue marlin with a short upper jaw

A blue marlin with an unusually short upper jaw was captured and released by Cabo Fishing Club off Onahama, Fukushima Prefecture, on September 15, 2002. The fish is identified as Indo-Pacific blue marlin Makaira mazara based on 2 photos（Figs. 1 & 2／photo by Takeshi Kamei）.
The aspects on behaviour and ecology of the blue marlin are estimated and briefly discussed.
